Awesome 2017 Seniors!

There's nothing more rewarding about college soccer than watching the incredible progress made by players throughout their 4-year journey to a degree and graduation.  These 5 FSUWS Seniors have been through so much and worked so hard to sustain the quality of our program in their 4 seasons.  They have been an inspiration to others.  Winning their Senior Day game, a very important conference game on Homecoming Day against a big rival, was one of many memories they will take with them.  Congratulations Seniors!

Great Conference Games!

Playing in a competitive conference like the CAC is awesome.   Not only do we develop some terrific regional rivalries,  the intensity of fighting for position in the standings and in the conference tournament makes for exciting games at the end of the season.  Our final three conference opponents are all competing for position in the conference and so have everything to play for!  We need to match that intensity and be prepared to play our best soccer of the season in the coming weeks.

True STUDENT-Athletes at FSU!

For the 10th year in a row and 12th time overall, FSU women's soccer athletes have been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association, now called United Soccer Coaches, for their outstanding academic achievement.  An annual team GPA of 3.48 is strong evidence of the commitment women's soccer players here at FSU have made to their studies.   FSU Women's Soccer athletes earn valuable degrees that lead to graduate school and professional opportunities that are life changing.   Congratulations!

Conference Games

We play in a great competitive conference that provides us with a consistent schedule and some great rivalries.  These regular season games determine who qualifies for our conference tournament and gets to host home games in that tournament.   We have had a challenging start to our season but have grown as a team from our experiences and will be as competitive as possible in the CAC.

Soccer Golf!

A soccer season feels a bit like a round of golf.  You get about 18 tries and anytime you might crush a drive into the woods, you can't let that negatively influence your next tee shot.  Of course, you learn from it and make adjustments, but you never completely change your technique or approach from hole to hole, or from game to game.  In fact, the challenge is to resist the temptation to make radical changes to your game and have confidence that your preparation and practice and persistence will eventually pay dividends.  You have to realize that how you end each hole, and end the round, is much more important that how you started.

Competitive College Soccer!

We won our first home game on Wednesday night in a tight 1-0 game then dropped a road game on Saturday in double overtime 0-1.   These are some of the ups and downs of competitive college soccer and our players are focused on our simple mission of getting better every day.  All of our seasonal goals are within reach and we realize testing ourselves against good competition is exactly how we'll reach those goals.  2 more good regional opponents this week!  Away on Wednesday at 4pm and home on Saturday at 2.

Opening Weekend!

We played a couple very good teams in Pittsburgh this past weekend and while we didn't prevail on the scoreboard, we've certainly learned a lot about our team.   We were competitive with a top-25 team on Friday and were dominant for long stretches as we tried to chase a 2nd goal against Wooster on Saturday.  Brooke Shehade scored an excellent goal to open her scoring account for 2017 and we got great performances from a number of players.   We have our home opener on Wednesday at 7pm and look forward to defending our home turf against a very good W&J team.
