Academic All-Americans!

This is a fun time of year when post-season awards are announced and we get to find out how those outside of our program regard our players.  Adria Graham and Stephanie Fazenbaker just became only the 2nd and 3rd FSU Women's Soccer players to be named to the CoSida Academic All-America team. Both are forwards who led our team and the conference in Goals and Assists and both are 4.0 students with career aspirations in the medical professions.  As a junior and 2-time Conference Player of the Year, Adria made the 1st Team while Stephanie was named to the 3rd team as one of only 2 sophomores honored in the Nation.

NCAA Tournament

Katie Smith makes a save Saturday Night
We played the tough and talented #5 ranked team from Lynchburg in the NCAA Tournament this weekend.  Although we lost the game 1-0, we had good stretches of momentum in the game and created some quality chances to score.  Our Seniors showed terrific leadership as we threw everything we had at Lynchburg in the final 10 minutes and created some real drama as the clock counted down.   Katie Smith was terrific in goal and our defense on 2 very athletic forwards was awesome all night.  We conclude our year with a 14-4-1 record and a conference championship.  All of our players should be very proud of a terrific 2012 season...

CAC Champions

We hit the post twice and had a great chance to end the game in overtime but it was Katie Smith who was our hero today, saving 2 PK's in the Shootout to secure our first CAC Championship since entering the Conference in 2010.  We played a terrific 0-0 draw at Salisbury but will now be headed to the NCAA Tournament.  The selection show will be on Monday afternoon and will be announced here:

Playing for A Championship!

We played well at home tonight in our conference semifinal scoring 3 times in the opening 30 minutes to defeat York 3-0.  We will now play for the CAC Championship at Salisbury this Saturday at 1:00pm.  Adria Graham scored twice and Brooke Longo added another in the first half.  Stephanie Fazenbaker had another great assist and our defending was terrific. A rematch with Salisbury awaits this weekend with the winner headed to the NCAA Tournament!
