Did we Really have a good year?

I always say you don't know for sure if we had a good year or not until seeing our Fall grades. Well we did have a terrific Fall in many ways!
- our team GPA from the Fall semester was a 3.355
- 3 players earned 4.0 GPA's -Courtney Mack, Stephanie Fazenbaker, and Katie Smith
- 12 of 25 players had a 3.5 or better and 20 had a 3.0 or better Fall GPA
- 4 players were just named NSCAA Scholar All-Region - Stephanie Fazenbaker, Adria Graham, Courtney Mack, and Katie Smith
- 2 players were named CoSida Academic All-Americans for the 2nd year- Adria and Stephanie

In our entire conference, only 1 other player was named as a CoSida All-American this year and only 2 others were named to NSCAA Scholar All-Region teams.

Very Proud of our team and their clear commitment to academic excellence!

A Beautiful Winter Day

We've had our first snow day of the year this week as winter made it's presence felt in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  This photo was taken from our WeatherBug webcam on the roof of the Compton Science Center today. It shows the new CCIT building in the foreground and in the distance, you can make out the nearly completed new stadium building.
A beautiful winter day here at the 'burg!

All-Americans!

The announcement of post-season awards has begun with 5 FSU players named to All-Conference Teams.  Adria Graham and Quincy Hegeman to the first team and Courtney Mack, Stephanie Fazenbaker, and Brooke Longo to the 2nd team.  There is no CAC Honorable Mention team so nearly half of our lineup was recognized by CAC coaches as among the best in the conference.
Both Adria Graham and Stephanie Fazenbaker have been announced as repeat Academic All-Americans by CoSida, the association of Sports Information Directors.  They are 2 of only 3 CAC players to receive this honor in 2013.
More to come...

Stadium Progress

Our new stadium project is progressing nicely.  Some red color panels were attached recently and significant work has been done on the interior of the building.  The workers also had to relocate one of the light poles and took the opportunity to replace some of the bulbs as well.
The seating company will be arriving any day to complete the work on the stadium seats and connect the bleacher to the new press box and team rooms.

Terrific 2013 Seniors!

Our Seniors gave us terrific leadership in what was an up and down season in 2013.  We achieved our 20th winning record in the 20-Year history of FSU Women's Soccer and were highly competitive and improved our team in every week of the 2013 campaign.  We had a great finish to the regular-season going undefeated in our final 5 games before bowing out of the CAC Tournament in a sudden-death PK shootout.

Senior Day 2013

Although the game ended in a draw, we had a  great competitive match for Senior Day today at FSU.  We had terrific chances to score and defended well and are feeling good about the end of the regular season and preparations for our conference tournament.

Terrific Goals on Wednesday

Our YouTube page has highlights of 2 terrific goals scored on Wednesday in our home game vs Southern Virginia.  Jessa Ditullo entered the game and promptly smacked a 30 yard shot into the upper corner of the goal with her first touch.  Minutes later, Courtney Mack pushed the ball through midfield and split 2 defenders before finishing a hard far post shot off the side netting.  Lets hope the great goals continue as we finish up our conference regular season...
